Ghastly place. Firstly the rooms are tiny, we had to move rooms because the electricity went out on one side of the building! Then the room they offered instead was so tiny you could only get out of the double bed on one side! The next room was right by the stairs do you could hear noise all night long. The door didn’t fit so light came in all around it all night from the constantly lit stairs. The Russian receptionist was rude and unhelpful in the whole room change saga, telling us to use the communal bathroom on the 4th floor and stay in a room with no electricity! The bathrooms are so tiny you can’t sit straight on the loo because of the shower door and the showers were full of mould. There were cracks in the walls. But, and this is the most important thing…check, check and check again the rooms for bed bugs….I did not but the room must have had them as when I got home I had bites!

A beautiful building... but nothing much else can be said.

It is a beautiful old building, 300 years old I am told... but that makes it impracticle for the elderly and infirm... there are 37 narrow steps to the second floor where we were staying! In a very VERY small room! The staff on the front desk were very friendly... but nothing seemed to get done. During our four-day stay, we mentioned every day that the television wasn't working... it wasn't working four days later! In the bathroom, there was one small bottle of body-wash and a cake of soap the size of a large button. We mentioned at the front desk that this wasn't adequate for two adults for four days... so they gave us another small bottle of body-wash and another cake of soap the size of a large button! When this bottle of body-wash was empty, I left it on the shower soap-holder upside down, empty... but it was never touched... it's probably still there! (We gave up, went out and bought some soap!) The "house-keeping" was appalling... look at that first photo: we came home one day to find this as an example of bed-making! This room was "twin-share" but that meant one bedhead and two single beds joined together. Here they have just thrown the doona over the two beds! Poor loves were probably very tired after climbing those 37 steps! (We were too!)

Rooms are clean, staff are friendly, good location. But they charge you a whacking great city tax when you arrive (57 euros) which includes a percentage added of the original amount on top - the most I've ever paid in Amsterdam. They don't warn you about this or the 100 euros deposit required when you check in - good job we weren't relying on that money to spend during our stay.

overall a great stay. We were early and unfortunately my room wasn't ready but as soon as it was we were able to check. the staff at the desk was super, she was very professional. I rented bikes from this hotel and from this location all locations in the city was just an easy cycle away.

Don’t stay there. I won’t even spend time reviewing. Everything about the hotel is awful. Room, bed, breakfast - you name it. Also, they owe me EUR 100 and are not answering my emails. Poor business practice of a really poor hotel.
